Why we exist

The world throws away a third of the food it grows. We think that's a bug, not a fact of life.

Not because people don't care — because nobody can hold an entire kitchen in their head. PantryLab exists to remember it for you.

~1/3of all food produced worldwide is lost or wasted before it's eaten
~8–10%of global greenhouse gas emissions come from food that's never eaten

Estimates based on widely cited UNEP and FAO food-waste research.

The problem

Food isn't the problem. Forgetting it is.

Nobody buys groceries planning to throw them away. Life gets busy, the fridge fills up faster than anyone can track it, and the spinach in the back drawer quietly becomes someone else's problem — usually a bin bag's.

Convenience food fills that gap because it's easier than remembering what you already own. We think there's a better fix: software that keeps the mental inventory so you don't have to.

Why it matters

Good for your budget. Better for the planet.

Roughly a third of all food produced worldwide never gets eaten — and most household waste happens simply because we forget what we have. PantryLab exists to fix the forgetting.

A note from our founder

I kept doing the same thing every Sunday: open the fridge, stare at it for a full minute, and order takeout anyway — while a bag of wilting kale watched me do it. Not because I didn't know how to cook. Because I couldn't remember what I had, what needed using first, or what any of it could become without a trip to the store.

That's the whole idea behind PantryLab: a kitchen that remembers itself, so the food you already paid for gets eaten instead of forgotten. We're early, and there's a long way to go — but every scanned receipt gets us closer.

What we believe

Three ideas the whole product is built on.

See what you have, not what you're missing

Most kitchen tools start with a shopping list. We start with your fridge — because the fastest way to waste less is knowing what's already there.

Better for your wallet and the planet, at once

Cutting food waste isn't a sacrifice — it's money back and fewer emissions, from the same small habit change.

Make using it up easier than ignoring it

If remembering takes effort, people stop doing it. So PantryLab does the remembering — quietly, in the background, every day.

One less banana in the bin tonight. One fridge, at a time.
